Whenever Porter Robinson decides a song is good enough to play in one of his sets, it’s safe to say it’s probably a good song. If he includes it in multiple sets across a tour, it means it’s worth listening to.
When Porter Robinson decides to forgo playing the original version of one of his most famous songs of all time in favor of a remix of that song (again, across MULTIPLE sets,) it’s time to ask yourself why you are still reading this sentence and haven’t pulled up the SoundCloud link yet.
Arizona based Ekonovah flipped “Language” in a way we never thought was even possible, and Porter has taken notice. He’s been playing this insanely smooth “Ekotech” (Ekonovah’s signature sound) flip in every single set these past few months, and after taking a listen to it there’s no wonder he’s become so attached. The first time I heard the drop synth in this flip, I had to manually close my jaw with my hand it had dropped so hard to the floor.
In an era when electronic music has seen so many different artists that fresh sounds are hard to come by, “Ekotech” is a splash of cold water and a slap in the face, waking up anyone who claims that unique futuristic sounds are dead. The “Language” flip takes this uniqueness one step further, weaving Ekonovah’s sound into one of Porter’s bests in an incredulous yet fitting way.
Take a look at him dropping this flip at his set at “Freaky Deaky” and be sure to listen to the full song below.
