TMZ gets a lot of shade around their practices at times. But They’re also people… as we were reminded by Skrillex after the release of some footage taken last night.
Apparently TMZ Spicoli-look-a-like-paparazzi “Cody” (say it with a valley-girl accent,) thought it would be wise relevant interesting smart important profitable to ask the undisputed prince of Dubstep about his take on the Drake / Meek Mill drama to which our hero replied “I think they can do whatever they want.” Obviously perturbed by Cody’s behavior and the irrelevance of the question, Skrillex promptly grabbed the camera and begun interviewing Cody about what unfortunate life choices made him stray so far from his dreams as a director into the clutches of TMZ.
In the end and despite his obnoxious behavior, Cody gets the footage he needs to get a gold-star back at the TMZ brain trust and even gets genuine encouragement to “follow [his] dreams” from one of the worlds’ foremost experts in dream-following. Of course Skrillex can relate to a young creative struggling to make ends meet! Anyone else would have grabbed that camera and smashed it Kanye style.
Good on you Skrillex. It’s a reminder to people everywhere that if you aren’t chasing your dreams, what are you chasing?
