Keeper

This one starts slow and low with a steady beat, adding writhing synths that swoop from one sounds to another after a few seconds, with the bass that goes in one ear, out the other, and then in and out again and again. Now give it some sexy, indie vocals and chill trap future bass feels, and you know this one is a Keeper. Pun intended. Welcome to wildly awesome world of synth-soul music.

The title of this track from synth-soul sirens Keeper is, ‘Next to Me’, but in the end it is you who wants to get next to these artists. This track is one off of their upcoming album entitled Moonhigh. This track premiered a few days ago on Complex, and features the talented MoonDoctoR. Its sound is fresh , and so is everything about these three friends from Austin, TX, home to so many music up and comers from all genres in and out of electronic music.

I don’t often get on a feminist high horse, when I do it is for good reason. Girls in this industry need to stick together, especially those with intellect and staying power. They are crucial pieces of the gajillion it will take to save this wretched world in which we live. Music is the key, and talented women like these make the kind of music that will be our salvation. Carving out a niche for yourself and daring to be different is something we rarely see anymore, even in the coveted world of electronica that was once an outlet for artists and a safe-haven for listeners. Thankfully, in the face of death by generics and the musical equivalent of a series of meaningless one night stands, we have found a Keeper. Their synth-soul vocal sound is one to love on for a long time. A love that will take to that place, the one that made you love this music in the first place.
