Gorillaz Launch Augmented Reality App + Worldwide Album Listening Party

The rollout for the upcoming Gorillaz album has been unlike anything we’ve seen before. From a TV series, to a 360 degree music video, to pop up performance, there isn’t a whole lot of new age marketing tactics Gorillaz team hasn’t tried yet. Today, the band announced a new augmented reality as well as a list of listening parties around the globe.

The forthcoming app, which will be powered by T-Mobile’s Electronic Beats project, will overlay the world of the Gorillaz virtual band members into our existing world, similar to the way Pokemon GO operates. On top of this, there will also be a worldwide listening party via the app that Gorillaz will use to share their new album in full for the first time.
