Some know him as Clockwork, others know his trapped out, stage crushing alter-ego RL Grime, and thanks to the crew at Thump, now we get a short inside look at the man behind the 1’s and 2’s. In the first of two installments of “Into the Night”, we get an insider perspective of what makes RL Grime tick. Caught grubbing with tour-mate and buddy Baauer, while catching clips of galvanized club crowds, RL divulges his thoughts on the direction the music scene is moving towards and what to expect next. Grime jokes about his status as a celebrity, playfully joking about people hearing his infamous, infectious Mercy remix; he playfully pokes at the idea of trap music being such a “novelty”, and even goes into his thoughts about how the wave of west coast influenced twerk-tastic trap tunes will be taking over and how 100 bpm is undoubtedly replacing the familiar 70 bpm tempo we all know.
Its shaping up to be a big month for Grime as well. The Infinite Daps Tour along side fellow trap maverick Baauer is ready to kick off and new music for us is right around the corner too. Having recently moved to The Big Apple, everyone’s favorite trap overlord has teamed up with A-trak and his crew to release his forthcoming EP entitled High Beams through the Fool’s Gold record imprint based out of Brooklyn. Radio rips and unreleased tunes are constantly popping up on the internet, so this new EP RL Grime is unleashing on July 16th is bound to be nothing short of a heater. Check the video below and get excited for what is sure to be a solid EP of some great summer tracks to bump, we are certainly stoked.
