Streaming has over taken 2017, with Spotify and Apple Music dominating new music discovery. With streaming changing the music game, artists voices are the ones we’re always looking to hear on the subject and the latest conversation comes from Diplo. In a recently leaked interview with Rolling Stone, Diplo discussed the future of streaming and allegedly fired shots as Taylor Swift, stating:
“Music is in the hands of the kids. Streaming is literally what kids want to listen to over and over again. They want to listen to ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Bodak Yellow.’ They don’t want to listen to, like, ‘Look What You Made Me Do.’ That music doesn’t relate to them at all. I don’t think it ever did. They were only given that by radio and marketing budgets. I’m impressed with Post Malone. I can relate to him more than Taylor Swift.”
Since the leak, site like Billboard and Buzzfeed have posted about the uproar of Swift fans who have launched a full on social media attack. “Swifties” have bombarded his Instagram comments with snake emojis and berated him on Twitter. In response, Diplo simply tweeted:
calm down swifties “all too well” is one of my fav songs https://t.co/yV05kBWaQZ

Ironically, Taylor Swift has only rejoined streaming sites like Spotify and Pandora earlier this year after pulling her music back in 2014. While many Swifties are claiming Diplo only dropped T Swift’s name as a publicity stunt, isn’t the larger publicity stunt that Taylor Swift replaced her music on streaming sites only two months before releasing new singles?
