We are moving towards mid March so you know what that means? SXSW is just around with corner, filled with plenty of groundbreaking events and showcases to promote talent all across the country and throughout the music industry.
A prime example of one such showcase is the teaming up of upcoming tastemakers, IRL Music and the street-culture focused magazine, ILLMIND. Together these rising brands present their SXSW showcase entitled, HOTLINE. HOTLINE aims to broadcast a really genre-fluid showcase incorporating the prominent influences of each artist playing, however, mainly highlighting the new wave of future music.
In interviewing Alex Mega (one of the main geezers behind ILLMIND Magazine) he adds light to this direction:
‘We aim with the showcase to bring light to that new wave of future sound. We really want to create a platform where each artist can bring their own unique imprint of their influences which is altogether tied into that new wave of music.’
Clint Choi from IRL develops this concept of direction further:
‘We want people to really vibe with the hybridized sound we are creating at SXSW. The showcase is a great reflection of both our brands because we both enjoy exposing dope stuff which has a clear and impacting visual and audible coherence, so this is the perfect match.‘
