“This will be my 7th year producing this SXSW showcase – we have had many names over the years, but it’s always been 4 days and 4 nights, and it’s always at The Brew Exchange. Getting to transform this sports bar into a venue that’s hosted The Knocks, Gorgon City, and Rufus … and that has debuted live sets from Goldroom and MSTRKRFT, is honestly the most fun I have ever had … and the most stressful putting it all together. This year we are really focusing on what the Beautiful Buzzz brand has evolved into, the best of what electronic dance music has to offer with all that future bass and hip-hop flavor! Delicious!” – Erin Maher, Founder Beautiful Buzzz

Tips & Tricks To Make It Through SXSW
- RSVP to EVERYTHING! It’s better to have a way to get in the door than have no way in. As soon as you get to SXSW, get your badges and wristbands even if you’re not sure if you’re going to go to the showcase. It’s infinitely easier to grab that Fader wristband in the beginning of the week because otherwise you’ll wait in a line for hours .
- Make a schedule. You can’t see everything or even half of all the showcases you’re going to want to see so making a schedule is an absolute necessity. See where artists overlap and most of all don’t worry if you don’t see everyone. Google Maps and Google Calendar are your best friend. Some showcases are going to be on opposite ends of Downtown Austin so map out your destinations ahead of time. And remember: most of these artists are preparing tours or are playing at other festivals this summer so you will have a chance to see them again.
- Bring water. SXSW is a marathon, not a sprint. Stay hydrated.
- Pack snacks. Snacks are necessary in any festival backpack. Cliff bars and protein bars are great because they give you just the energy you need to keep going in between meals.
- Stash your cash. ATM machines charge an insane amount ($5-10) to take out cash. It’s not your typical $1.50 fee and no one wants to spend $40 on ATM fees by the end of the week. You’re better off bringing some and keeping it for desperate times.
- Lock down your transportation. Uber and Lyft do not exist in Austin but there are other apps like them that you should definitely download.
Have fun at SXSW and be sure to check out Snapchat and Instagram throughout the week!
