If you have ever had a chance to talk to any artist that has played or is going to play Electric Forest, they talk about it with such a sense of reverie. It’s not just a magical place for attendees, but for performers as well. It’s a whole different kind of energy that permeates through the entire festival and is contagious from every single soul. It’s a beautiful feeling that I have not been able to replicate no matter how many festivals I go to.
We caught up with a few performers coming to Electric Forest. Some are newcomers that are excited to feel the magic of Forest for the first time, but also a Forest veteran.
Keep an eye out during your walks in the forest. You might see one of your favorite artists walking around as they try to find the magic of the Forest just like you are.
Ray Volpe
With Ray Volpe’s Electric Forest debut coming we asked him what he is most looking forward to at Electric Forest-
“This is actually my very first Electric Forest! This one’s been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m super excited & grateful to play. I’ll definitely be walking around after my set to experience everything myself – the community, the vibes, the crowd. I’ll be positively overwhelmed hahaha”
Zingara
Zingara is no stranger to Electric Forest. Her wonky, organic brand of bass music always seems to be a perfect fit for Electric Forest, no matter what stage she plays -we asked her what she thinks fans should experience at Electric Forest –
”I think everyone who attends Electric Forest should make time to explore the Forest! There are so many hidden art instillations and cool features that make it unique! I love that there are little fairy houses throughout the forest. I always leave little trollz around, so keep an eye out!! I think everyone should explore the Dream Emporium!! I’m so excited I get to play at Sherwood Court this year! It’s one of my favorite stages!!”
Joey Valence & Brae
This dynamic hip-hop duo exploded onto the scene with their old school sound. Fans of Beastie Boys and Run The Jewels HAVE to add these guys to their schedule. As newcomers to Electric Forest and one of the few hip-hop acts we had to find out what they are most excited for at Forest and they have a simple yet effective 2 part answer.
“THE FANS. (Also maybe some dubstep).”
INFEKT
If you don’t know the name INFEKT but have been to any kind of heavier bass show I am almost positive you have heard some of his incredibly heavy hitting tunes as he was a staple on Never Say Die: Black Label and Disciple compilations. If you’re into the more riddim and darker side of bass music, INFEKT should be at the top of your list. INFEKT will be coming to Electric Forest for the first time this Summer so we asked him a few questions about what he is looking forward to.
What’s your favorite thing about Electric Forest?
“The exploration! This year is going to be my first time at Electric Forest, but people have been telling me to just go around and explore the festival and I’m super excited to do that.”
What’s one thing that fans should experience at Electric Forest
“Being open to discovering new genres! So often your enjoyment of new music depends on the context of your encounter with it, and I feel like Electric Forest will be the perfect place to get into something new.”
What are you most looking forward to at Electric Forest?
“Seeing what all the hype is about!! Both from a perspective of playing and going as a music-enjoyer I’m super excited.”
