#MELLOVILLE has arrived! What can only be explained as the closest one can become to experiencing life as a rainbow; this audio and visual spectacle is a treat for all. Marshmello and his team have done a fantastic job creating a community open to anyone, regardless of whether your a fan of his radio hits or a seasoned rave veteran. I was lucky enough to attend this show in my home town of New Orleans at the iconic Mardi Gras World with thousands of my fellow Mellogang members and the stacked support of Yultron and Ghastly. These two were fantastic choices to lead the night in the optimum direction. Yultron’s high energy was a great spark to ignite the room’s spirit and his decision to include a solid amount of Happy Hardcore brought a smile to my face. I personally connected with Ghastly’s love for both v a p o r w a v e visuals as well as his obvious adoration for pizza. He was able to not only build upon Yultron’s initial sprint out the gate, but was also able to brilliantly weave in more euphoric and melodic vibes that would eventually tie in beautifully with what was to come with Marshmello’s set. After Ghastly, we were granted a fifteen minute recuperation period that allowed us to brace ourselves for the blissfulness that would be Marshmello’s love letter to us. To our pleasure, we were given the gift of finding out his true identity was none other than Will Ferrell; and were immediately warned that bathroom breaks were clearly off limits. After that, there was no holding back. Hit after hit, indulgence after indulgence, the next hour and a half was a trip through Candyland. About halfway through the set, an event occurred that rattled me to my core. We got to hear Marshmello sing! What a pleasant surprise it was. Hints of pop punk and dance music all rolled into a few tracks, we were able to connect with him on an even deeper level than before. What a splendid new addition to his experience!
About three quarters through, right when we thought your energy had escaped us, he decided to bring filth; opening up those long lost reserves we had stored away for a rainy day. Relentless until the end, Marshmello had the perfect song to tie the rainbow on lovely gift he had given us that evening; his latest single “Spotlight” with the late Lil Peep. We shed our tears, we shared our hugs, we spread our love, and we all became Mellogang that evening. #MELLOVILLE is an event that will stay with me for quite some time. Be sure to attend this event when it comes to a city near you.
