Though Black Moth Super Rainbow billed the snippets from its latest release SeeFu Lilac as “neon flavored outtakes,” the album’s vocals – themselves tinged with a grayish growl – and bending synths accented by nippy percussion suggest more of a front-palate incandescent tang. Regardless of the semantics, it’s refreshing to hear some new iterations of BMSR’s otherworldly sound dioramas. Born of each track’s ingenuity shining on multiple aural planes, SeeFu Lilac underscores the act’s distinct sonic aesthetic, reminiscent of tumbling down a wormhole to find your new world oscillating anywhere between two and five dimensions. It’s all tastefully weird.
