Stop what you’re doing right now – Kendrick Lamar’s debut single for his highly anticipated upcoming LP is finally here; and it’s fire. K-dot is one of the few rap artists that can successfully capture the internet’s undivided attention on any musical release, and this positive-minded ode to ‘loving oneself’ is a testament to that. Over Rahki’s soulful production and sampling of the Isley Brother’s “Who’s that Lady,” Kendrick rocks a number of impressive flows to craft a cohesive and unique introspective record. Will his next album compete with the classic Good Kid, M.A.A.D City? Only time will tell but if it’s anything like this single we’ve got high hopes.
