Zac Efron’s movie, “We Are Your Friends,” about a local EDM DJ turned superstar, has been gaining steam heading into it’s premiere date of August 28, 2015. The Warner Bros. movie certainly has a lot of potential, as it’s the first movie of it’s kind, but has also been heavily criticized by die-hard dance music fans. In the end, the movie will only push electronic dance music even further into the mainstream — whether that is a bad or a good thing is yet to be seen.
From what we can gather from the trailer, the film follows a house DJ who apparently does not the leave the range of 125-128 BPM. What’s odd is the soundtrack featured in the trailer is Bassnectar’s “You & Me” w/ W. Darling, which clocks in at 70/140 BPM. Some continuity would be nice, Warner Brothers.

Can we stop equating lack of tempo changes with a lack of talent? The RA top 100 ( http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj-100.aspx ) is stacked top-to-bottom with world class artists who never change tempo.
