Yes, ladies and gentlemen, its that time again. One of my favorite releases of 2013, the We Got This Compilation is back in 2014 with 17 new tracks full of west-coast, 808-based trap and future bass. In case you missed the last one, We Got This “is a collective of West-coast artists that strive to bring you the best in new electronic music.” And while the compilation is available as Pay What You Want (PWYW) for now, I know that the overwhelming popularity of the first one caused the price to spike to an actual dollar amount, so the real cheap bargain music consumers would be best served grabbing the compilation now while its still free!
Now, after the gems I picked up from the first volume, I had some rather high expectations for volume 2… WGTC, however, did not disappoint. Starting off with a little more energy than the first, Shlump starts things off heavy with his track Ladies and Gentlemen followed by the trippy-trap (now officially a genre because its so fun to say) vibe of Chase Manhattan‘s Clique and Mastah Syphe‘s Holy Bells. Then the compilation starts to open up more with a beautiful major-key remix of Riff Raff’s How To Be The Boss by Releece and some more dance-inspired stuff. Some of my other favorites include the homie M!NT‘s fly-as-&*#$ remix if Usher’s Yeah, Dehousy’s Fly Together, Slagz’ Milky Way Remix, and Dev79‘s Gnarly Skin. Really though, because the compilation spans so many feelings and artists, it makes for a fantastic full- listen-through (if you can defeat your ADHDTV, but I hear those things are getting smarter).
Like last year, the compilation is available for free / PWYW for now so you best snag a copy while you can! Don’t worry, we have all the links you need, right here. Don’t forget to shoot some love towards the We Got This Crew on facebook and twitter! Your appreciation is what’s paying for this music <3.
