Big Gigantic have just finished their 5th studio album and their giving it away for free as well as offering physical copies and digital downloads in the iTunes store for fans who want to help throw some burrito money at their favorite drummer and saxamaphone player (players gotta eat!). The album comes alongside the announcement of a winter tour kicking off February 12 and continuing through early march where the group will play in cities across the country (though CA and NY dates are noticeably missing!).
The album is pretty much exactly what I’ve come to expect of Big Gigantic; a tasteful combination of dubstep, funk and future-bass that’s held together by extraordinary musicianship and talent. And while The Night is Young is not particularly surprising or “out there,” it is one of the most solid dubstep releases I’ve seen since Kill The Noise‘s debut EP.
More modern dubstep fans will enjoy tracks like Cloudburst, Blue Dream and but personally I found myself more partial to funky tracks like The Night is Young ft Cherub and From Dusk Till Dawn. The last three tracks played back to back is a killer combo too. Overall the entire album is a solid listening experience and you would be foolish not to try it on and see how it feels (spoiler: you love it).
