Labor Day Weekend at EZOO was an amazing experience. The festival celebrated it’s 10th Year Anniversary, and other than the let down of mainstage decorations (typically they have mainstage decorated as a different animal every year) the festival went off without a hitch.
I was able to catch Troyboi at the festival. He had a lot to say about both current and upcoming projects, which all seem super exciting. Take a read below.
Thanks for joining me, talk about your newest thing the Vibez project.
“Vibez volume 2 is the continuation to the whole saga which I started a few months ago. It’s exploring random ideas that I’ve had, and exploring music that I’ve always wanted to create. The music has no barrier or genre.”
What’s the difference between this and Vibez 2?
“There are definitely new flavors, stuff which I couldn’t really explore in Vibez 2..and WHEN VIBEZ 3 comes out there will be even more flavors.”
So you are giving us a little bit of a hint?
“Oh yeah, just a tiny little hint.”
Tell us a bit about your creative process when it comes to making these collections?
“I don’t really think, I kinda just do. For me, when I make music, I don’t go in thinking “I want to make a banger.” I just sit in front of the computer and whatever sounds come out to me at that point in time, I just roll with it. And when the product is finished I decide what I want to do with it. I think it’s the best way, as forced projects are the worst.”
Let’s take a bit of a shift here. Obviously, you are from London, yet you are sitting here in New York, about to play a show in a huge US city. What does this experience mean to you?
“It’s huge, I always see myself as this South East London boy, small town, humble beginnings, and to be able to come to the Big Apple…New York, New York..it’s huge. To have such a reception and love from people all around the world who came to New York to see me, it’s overwhelming.”
