VALENTINE flips an Estelle and Kanye Classic on its Head

Never one to take the proverbial path-most-travelled, 19 year old producer VALENTINE abandons the formulaic remix approach, dramatically reimagining Estelle and Kanye’s iconic “American Boy”. Beginning with a sultry, intricately harmonized vocal cover from SoundCloud’s most darling singer Sophie Meiers, VALENTINE re-contextualizes the tune into a rhythmically, harmonically and  stylistically ingenuitive production. Still not content with the collaboration, the young artist assumes the role of executive producer, tapping upon technically-brilliant jazz pianist Rob Araujo to provide subtle voicings to elevate “American Boy” to an unprecedented level of sophistication. Although the final product could still generically be referred to as “future bass”, the 3 collaborators have blatantly transcended the cliched status of “future bass remix”, creating a completely new piece of art in itself.
