Spoonbill is one of Melbourne’s favourite natives in the glitch scene down under, in 2015 we were blessed with an all-encompassing exploration of temple-tickling downtempo music with “Tinkerbox”, the artist’s chef-d’oeuvre. “Squawkus” followed, which was a complete 180 from its predecessor – a 4-piece selection of delectable dance floor ditties filled with relentless, atypical glitch and more intense wobbles than a San Francisco earthquake.
Now the man has returned with “Crosshatch” and a unique sound which he calls “Glitch Groove”, the sound consists of squelchy synth tones, royally funked-up guitar and brass and horn lines combined with irresistible levels of exquisite bass. Bolshie Waltz is a perfect hybrid of groovy basslines, dirty synths and intricate sample chopping that is sure to please. You can view this track and the rest of the EP down below.
