Mark Johns is undoubtedly one of my favorite singers on the come up right now. Embedded with Skrillex’s imprint OWSLA, this amazingly talented vocalist has become the go-to voice for that squad. By being able to seamlessly traverse from a sultry R&B sound to an electronic banger, Johns has made a name for herself as a versatile and confident vocalist. In her new EP Molino we a deep look into the depths of Johns’ life and vocal ability.

From the get go the EP has a downtempo vibe to it with particularly deep themes to it. Molino is certainly not a feel-good EP and is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster with it’s dark and gloomy undertones. Especially being generally a pop EP, these vibes might be something that scares some away. However, Johns pulls off this style off masterfully by writing intelligent and heartfelt songs. Combined with her dreamy and mystical voice, Johns has created an EP that is incredibly moving and captivating. With next year coming fast, Mark Johns is a name to watch for in 2017.
