Ookay sprang onto the scene with a turn-up attitude and quickly burst onto the festival scene. He was known for his chaotic sets which blended big room and festival trap. His releases as of late have shown a more mature side of production from the young producer. Ookay’s Cocoon EP is 5 tracks long and jumps from genre to genre masterfully. The one thing that sticks out on the entire EP are the infectious vocals – reminiscent of the vocals on his mega-hit “Thief.”
“Back Again” flexes future bass vibes before bringing a couple different flavors of house with “Long Time” and “New Jack Swing.” The instrumentals on “Sure” sound like something you would hear while exploreing a beautiful field in Legend Of Zelda. I love watching an artist evolve in front of our eyes. Is the “Butterfly” EP next?
