Listen to Michal Menert’s “1”

 

Michal Menert is known for his melodic sounds, break beats, funky horns, and electro soul drops. If you know Menert, you know he was at the forefront of the Pretty Lights movement, helping develop a sound that has taken the world by storm and created a community and platform for countless fans and artists alike.

His new album “1” is a ten track LP that exhibits an entirely new sound that we’ve never heard from Michal Menert. “1” is a fully produced album, with live recorded instruments (played by his 6-piece band The Pretty Fantastics), way chill vibes, and beautifully thoughtful lyricism, sung by none other than Menert himself. It’s a refreshing new take on a sound that seems to be diluted by a saturated “electro-soul” scene. To hear something like this from someone who deserves credit as one of the pioneers of the PL sound is, though unexpected, also whole heartedly impressive and inspiring.

 

 

This indie-tronic album is not something to be overlooked, and I have a feeling that if he continues down this new path of sound there will be a whole new demographic turning their heads and opening their ears and hearts to a sound that will easily resonate for any true music enthusiast. Taking a new direction for a developed artist is not only difficult, but a huge risk, and this new direction needs to be heard and appreciated. If anyone deserves success it is Michal Menert and this album is Pretty Fantastic (to say the least).
