With all this talk of the division of drum n bass known as jungle terror, it seems as though these terms thrown around to represent genre are nothing more than part of the sickening trends that a long time ago burst the EDM bubble, and are now trying to ruin all that is ripe and pure about dance music; well, music in general.
This is nothing new. People borrow types of music from its originators, the originators don’t know it, and then some popular song on the radio is recognized by a nobody who doesn’t know how to fight the big, bad record label wolves. Thankfully, those times are a changing. Somewhat. Thanks to the internet, we can get music live and direct from its places of origin, and kick those bass drums into high gear as we pop our booties to the real thing, because ain’t nothing like the real thing baby.
Back to jungle and bass and terror, all that jazz. We recently premiered a Main Course snack by Damn Kids, and in that premiere talked about how Main Course surely knows how to pick them. They found these guys, who the world has been sleeping on for years, deep in the city of Sao Paolo, Brazil, where they have been killing it since an old EP that came through the inbox of an Anonymous Superhero writing for Do Androids Dance maybe two years ago.
A former colleague from the deceased dance music blog, is who first premiered this track from these Brazilian homies.
In this smoking hot, down and dirty, sweat your clothes of track, Sugar Crush teams up with their homies also from Sao Paolo, Wrong Bazz. This is authentic jungle and terror, straight from the place where the trees grow thick and tall and are filled with wild animals that make noises much like the ones on this track. There are also beaches and islands and a whole bunch of socioeconomic issues which breed the riddim, rudeboi, afrobeats influences you also catch coming through those bars.
Really though, we dare you not to shake your ass like one of Fela Kuti’s girls to this Main Course snack. Go on. Get Busy.
