Beats by Dre spent a lot of time and money gearing up for the World Cup. They made sure high profile soccer stars like Neymar, Jozy Altidore, Chicarito, Thierry Henry, and more were involved in their 5 minute commercial called “The Game Before The Game”. The commercial debuted last week and has already amassed over 12.5 million views on Youtube.
Unfortunately for Apple, Sony is the official electronics sponsor for this years World Cup. Part of Sony’s agreement with FIFA is that any headphones that are not made by Sony are barred from the event. All of the athletes were given given Sony headphones to wear, but thus far they have rarely been seen.
A similar situation almost happened during the 2012 Summer Olympics with Panasonic being the official electronics partner of the Summer Olympics that year. Beats sent free headphones to all of the high profile athletes in hopes of getting them to wear them before and after their events. It worked and many athletes were seen wearing the headphones throughout the event.
You can watch the entire 5 minute video below and be sure to watch the World Cup and root on the US men’s national team. I belive that we will win!

I believe that you will not
Atso Reiman says
This is a game too, it just doesn't have anything to do with soccer 😀
Filip Loga-Skarczewski says
You have completly no knowledge about sound if you buy those. Useless shit for hipsters.
Scotty Anderson says
This article is crap!
Scotty Anderson says
Proof read your article before posting stuff. What does Apple have to do with Sony and Beats by Dre?
Take your journalism seriously!
Gregor Hartmann says
Proof think your shit before posting it. Apple owns Beats.
Scotty Anderson says
The article is convoluted, Apple announced they are acquiring Beats, but the deal would not be completed until the end of the year. Therefore Apple is not the owner yet. If the article said anything about Apple's newly or soon to be acquired company it would have made much more sense.
BTW Gregor, don't take the internet so personally!
Ryan Hancock says
Your prof pic is amazing. Bassnectar <3
Scotty Anderson says
I'm not wanting to start an argument on here, but Apple is not the owner of Beats, and the acquisition would likely not be completed until the end of the year.
This is still journalism, I would have had my article better explained.
Gregor Hartmann says
Scotty Anderson I don't, but I think people should research before ranting over an article. Jimmy Iovine as well as Dr. Dre joined Apple, so technically Apple owns Beats. 😛
Dan Allen says
The author is a fool and so is anyone arguing with mr Andersen. Apple is still in three process of final acquisition
Pingpong Tsan says
If you own a pair of Beats, you should be banned from everywhere. The headphones are overpriced garbage and you look like a total douchbag wearing them.
Jacob Roberts says
Apple actually does own beats. http://time.com/132644/apple-beats-electronics-headphones/
Scotty Anderson says
Jacob, again, the article says "will buy" by the end of the year!
Luu Le says
Dont hate, I'm about to buy some China Replicas soon for $140 for Wireless Beats Studios
Jerry Kagemusha says
about the same level as monster headphones ( since they are the same)… both are pretty decent for sound … lows are a bit heavy but the mxr is more crisp on stage vs the other 4 options , i'd take them over my sony v700 / v900 but slightly worse then audio technical ath-m50 .
really pricey though. . . and not a lot of people know what Impedance or frequency range means or what they stand for .
Lex Diamond says
"Sony is the official electronics sponsor for this years World Cup. Part of Sony’s agreement with FIFA is that any headphones that are not made by Sony are barred from the even". Right in the article folks, has nothing to do with Apple in particular. last I checked beats were not Sony owned.

Alex Dominy says
Jerry Kagemusha LOL WHAT Sound pretty decent, A bit heavy on lows, and your comparing them to M50s……… A REFERENCE HEADPHONE. shows how much you know dumbass. Beats go in to the color headphone category which VMODA HAS Dominated since they became a company. And sony does make great headphones, alot better then Dr.Dre or Monster. I have Currently Vmoda M100, I understand what they for, any audiophile will yell, that is the headphone that will make anyone go HOLY SHIT. And they are the same price as beats.
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy I lost what i originally typed .. but
1st off its Personal preference, I even use a $25 phone iphone telephone adapter sometimes ( if you dont know look it up )
2nd M50 vs M100 .. m50 i can get fro 150 bucks and the moda's are 300 plus
3rd v700-900 / m 50 are all studio phones ( if i remember correctly )
4th they never made me go "HOLY SHIT" , i used to run personalized ear buds ( form fitted )
5th i wasnt talking about vmoda , thats a different story .. and your comparing them to dre.beats as you would say color headphones
i dont know what your trying to get at, but i was pointing out not alot of people under stand frequency range
VMODA crossfades m100 out of everything WE listed has the greatest range 100% with the best sensitivity
BUT i would take the MDR xb700 over them .
CHEAPER ( even cheaper then the m50's )
almost comparable response
Better sensitivity ..
I am no " audiophile " . I just speak from my personal usage of said items ( iv used vmoda 1 time when i forgot my v700's at home )
Sorry if my post somehow offended you .
Alex Dominy says
Jerry Kagemusha First off Vmoda makes M80s M100 lp series. NOT M50s lol. Second off if Crossfade M100 didnt make you go holy shit, that means you never heard them. The Sony line you sayed are Studio aka REFRENCE headphones. Spec wise on the m100 there not the greatest, but one best balances with boosted freqncies. What I am trying to point is why would you want to get beats, there is no reason, there are million other headphones on the market, that sound better, better priced, and offer killer features. You promoting a company that is crap, that as horrible build quality, and horrible for sound. is what offends me.
Alex Dominy says
Luu Le Could spend that money better somewhere esle, like some M80s…..
Alex Dominy says
why does it matter. Apple is not going get into a promo battle with sony on headphones.
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy i said m50 .. because i was talking about audio techs .. m100 is moda
THEY DID NOT BECAUSE I HAD FORM FITTED EAR BUDS, LIVE MONITORS .. form fitted to my ear custom made … thats like comparing a stock fiesta st to the rs 420 …. moda being the st
HOW AM I PROMOTING when I listed all these other options and said they where pricey , you should stop promoting moda's because they are pricey also lol … they are made like crap but have improved in recent years … BEST BANG FOR BUCK THAT WE TALKED ABOUT THUS FAR IS A SONY .. thats where im at … but doesnt mean mother fuckers should go and buy the best … personal preference again …
stop being a stuck up , no ones arguing your wrong … vmoda crossfade = great unit .
there is no argument here , go home hug your kids or your dad or something eat a snickers your not your self when your hungry and upset
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy I dont know what your so upset about … your not wrong , you made it clear im not wrong
we established beats are not the best ( there are defiantly worse headphones then beats)
if it makes the audiophile part of your esteem feel better to be 100% correct ill delete my first comment and send you a picture of some cats
Alex Dominy says
Jerry Kagemusha Lol Vmoda made like crap, dude I throw these thing around toss them in my bag with no case, even thought they came with a dope case. Excuse me, these things are build like tanks….. HOW THE BEATS NOT PRICEY lol.
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy I was talking about beats being made like shit but improved … ( sorry this one was actually my bad kinda had that thrown in there randomly )
and i said the beats are pricey from the get go ..
"when I listed all these other options and said they where pricey "
"really pricey though. . . and not a lot of people know what Impedance or frequency range means or what they stand for ."
anyways you sound like you just read what you want to read …. and not actually anything anyone says … soooooo enjoy your moda's ill enjoy my v700's and beats studio that my mommy got me as a gift to celebrate my 1st year on stage .
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy cheer up dude , its been raining here for 10 days and some parts of my area are flooding .. theres worse things in the world then some 300 buck head phones
Ray Villeta says
lol.
Alex Dominy says
Jerry Kagemusha Beats represent a huge, problem in todays world. It just goes to show you can serve crap but with proper marketing, you can sell a shit ton of it. Dont listen with your eyes people, LISTEN with your ears. People dont do that theses day, it why we are becoming sheep to corporations.
Jerry Kagemusha says
Alex Dominy ohh your one of those ….. because you know moda's arnt owned by a giant corp …. I say good for dre , richest black man alive … lol
idk why we're talking about this …. this is not even close to the subject
Josh Lane says
Luu Le Why would you spend over $5 on any replica item ever? Normal beats aren't that good, and you're buying fakes… Imagine how shit they would be. I hope you're joking dude.
Josh Lane says
What's the problem? He only mentions Apple in "Unfortunately for Apple", and it is unfortunate for Apple. Whether or not they own them now, they will own them, and having extra advertising and probably increased revenue would be good for when they do acquire Beats by Dre, right?
Alex Dominy says
Jerry Kagemusha Vmoda is own b y a Dj and his small company out in cali, that gets there design from an Italian company. Dr,Dre is a sell out
Allen Garland says
Your statement is irrelevant to the accuracy of the article, which is informing people of the FIFA headphone policy while using a popular brand name to draw your attention to the article (it obviously worked on you too). It does not state anywhere in the article that Apple is the owner of Beats by Dre; you just decided to jump to that conclusion. I've added a few words to assist your reading comprehension "Unfortunately for Apple (which is in the process of acquiring Beats by Dre), Sony is the official electronics sponsor for this years World Cup." ….see, it still doesn't change the overall gist of the article.
Graham Kirk says
That's retarded but who wants beats anyway? I have Sennheiser HD 280's that sound better than any beats I've tried on and I know for sure that they weren't $300
