Riding the high from his latest album “Magna Carta Holy Grail“, Jay Z recently released a ‘music video’ if you could call it that, for the single “Picasso Baby.”
Featuring a quick introduction interview, he dabbles into why he wanted to create this performance art film , explaining the exchange of energy from the performance to the crowds response, and bringing all different kinds of artists back together, as he puts it.
Set in an art gallery, with Jigga at his purest form, He performs his single “Picasso Baby” in front of a blank canvas, giving him and his audience the opportunity to be the paintbrush, and his powerful, intricate lyrics to be the paint. Shawn Carter breaks from the box yet again and outdoes himself with this display of what is pure art, Solidifying himself as the modern day Picasso of words.
Jay really shows his love and passion for the art called Hip Hop. He never ceases to break down barriers of social classes, always finding ways to unite people, from rich to poor, from art dealers to drug dealers, performers of all kinds. “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film” shows that hip hop is a true art form and will be respected from here on out.
