Sometimes going to a music festival can be a daunting task, and when they are as top notch as Electric Forest Music Festival 2013, planning your day-to-day activities and music you want to check out can be tough to say the least! Well, we at Run The Trap present you with our Trapped In The Forest coverage of Electric Forest this year, mapping the days out by some of our top set selections to ensure the best experience for someone with similar musical tastes as us.
Electric Forest has a great variety of music, so we’re going to mix it up a bit with highlighted trap music acts, to some guaranteed legendary sets from other artists; moderation and balance are necessary for a turnt festival experience. (we also don’t list String Cheese at all, but you should make sure you check them out for AT LEAST one night of the fest).

:: Electric Forest – Day 1 Highlights (Thursday, June 27th) ::
A Tribe Called Red [Tripolee/Movement Stage 6:30PM – 7:30PM) #RARE:
Make sure you check this canadian based trio out, bringing a unique sound of Native American instruments mixed with hard hitting trap 808’s and effects. Very #rare set worth checking out.
:::
Ryan Hemsworth [Tripolee/Movement Stage 7:45PM – 8:45PM):
Young Ryan Hemsworth has been killing the game this year, with some truly amazing and unique (and emotional) original productions, along with a ton of high profile mixes and other releases. He hasn’t been out to Chicago yet this year (that I know of), so this set is definitely one to look forward to.
:::
Michal Menert [Tripolee/Movement Stage 10:15PM – 11:15PM]:
The Mentor that put Pretty Lights on the production game, throwing down some dope vibes at the Movement Stage to warm you up for EOTO.
EOTO [Sherwood Court 1o:45PM – 12:00AM]:
EOTO (pronounced like Kyoto without the “K”) is an electronic jam band consisting of Jason Hann and Michael Travis (percussionist and drummer from the band The String Cheese Incident) who make up this 100% improvised live Breakbeat/ House/ Drum n Bass/ Trip Hop project. Yes, 100% improvised break beat session, definitely worth checking out (especially if you’ve never seen them before).
::::
R.L. Grime [Tripolee/Movement Stage 11:30PM – 12:30AM]:
As we all know Henry Steinway is straight killing the game right now, whether it’s as his Clockwork moniker or trapping it up as RL, he never disappoints. Just like his 2 hour set from Tryst Nightclub, RL will most definitely be dropping some unreleased and new music in his set. Must see for any trap fan, he’s the best of the best.

:: Electric Forest – Day 2 Highlights (Friday, June 28th) ::
Break Science [Sherwood Court 7:00PM – 8:15PM]:
You can’t go wrong with some super heady glitch hop, am I right? These guys killed it at SAMF, and I would recommend starting your Friday off right with their set.
Baauer [Tripolee 9:00PM – 10:00PM]
VS
GriZMatik w/ Special Guests [Sherwood Court 9:00PM – 10:30PM]:
Ahhh Electric Forest why are you so cruel? I’m a huge fan of both of these guys, so I would say check out the set that is more #Rare for you.Checking out the first part of Baauer’s set then head off for the end of GriZmatik is always an option too
–
Holy Ghost! [Sherwood Court 11:15PM- 12:15PM]:
Not really trap related what so ever, but these dudes are dope and don’t come around very often. Some indy electronic in the mix is never a bad thing IMO.
:::
Noisia [Tripolee 12:45 – 1:45]:
This Netherlands based trio just murders it with their crunchy cinematic productions. A must see if you were ever a fan of dubstep and dnb. Very #RARE appearance.
::::
Krewella [Tripolee 2AM -3AM]:
Who doesn’t like to get wet though? These are some of my old school homies, and they bring it hard live every single time.
:: Electric Forest – Day 3 Highlights (Saturday, June 29th) ::
Craze [Tripolee/ Fools Gold 8PM – 9:15PM]:
Craze is THAT DUDE. The legendary multi world DMC turntablist champion never disappoints and is always bringing the next new sound in his sets and Dj sets. We’ve premiered a variety of his Cafe Con Leche tunes, and if you’ve never seen him scratch live you’re in for a treat.
::::
Just Blaze [Tripolee/ Fools Gold 9:15PM – 10:15PM]:
Super producer Just Blaze is about to throw shit down hard, whether it’s his ‘Higher’ Collab with Baauer, or his tons of chart topping hits, he’s definitely bound to drop some next generation hip hop in his set; maybe even some house tunes in the mix.
::::
Flosstradamus [Tripolee/ Fools Gold 11:30PM – 12:45AM]:
The titans of Turn^ always run the trap hard. This set is a give in if you’re about that life.
::::
Danny Brown [Tripolee/ Fools Gold 12:45AM – 1:45AM]:
Although he probably won’t be getting head on stage for this set, that shouldn’t deter you from the unique flow of Danny Brown. This dude brings it, and does it well, he’s also got a ton of new material (including a Rustie collab) that he’ll surely be playing out.
::::
Empire Of The Sun [Ranch Area 12:45AM – 2:00AM]:
These dudes just dropped their latest EP, and it’s been getting quite a bit of plays in my song rotation. Some nice cinematic indy electronic music mixed in can be quite refreshing for any festival.
::::
A-Trak [Tripolee/Fools Gold 1:45AM – 3:00AM]:
Close out your night with the Foolsgold ring leader (and legendary DJ), with some funky house grooves (and maybe some trap shit in there too).
:: Electric Forest – Day 4 Highlights (Sunday, June 29th) ::
Eliot Lipp [Tripolee 6:15PM – 7:15PM]:
Eliot Lipp is a producers producer, signed to PLM records and capable of dropping tunes from any and every genre in the game. Watch out for his goldeneye remix, I love that shit..
::::
LowRiderZ [Forest Stage 7:15PM – 8:45PM]:
This trio of bass music veterans, An-Ten-Nae, Laura Low and Auberon weave their own blend of deep dance floor grooves dropping endless acid crunk for you to groove to.
::::
Emancipator [Sherwood Stage 8:45PM – 10PM]:
One of the most legendary beatmakers in the game, I strongly recommend checking his set out. Must see set in my opinion, and a perfect segway into Pretty Lights.
::::
Pretty Lights [Ranch Area 11PM – 12:45AM]:
:::
Tripolee Closing Party w/ Keys N Krates 12:30am – 1:30am:
Corey says
Crazy. Ive been admiring Emancipator for a LOOOOONG time. one of the BEST producers to date. So original and beautiful. I’d give anything to see him.
