It’s been a very long time, but Disclosure are back with a banging (no pun intended) track that pays homage to exactly what got them into making music in the first place.
Sounding like the quintessential house track, “Bang That” is the first track–sampling 313 Bass Mechanic’s “Pass Out”–the UK duo has released in two entire years: that’s 24 months, 730 days, and 17,520 hours. They’ve stepped back from the poppy, heart-wrenching lyrics and dived straight into the motivational-club-anthem sound. Premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 program, the track gives us our first taste of the what we can expect from their upcoming album, and by the sound of this track we’re looking at a whole bunch of grooves, creativity, and authenticity. While Disclosure isn’t categorizing “Bang That” as an “official single”, claiming it’s just a reminder to their fans, we’re going to take it and run somewhere far away where we can bang it, shake it, freak it, and work that ’til we pass out.
Welcome back, Disclosure.
