The homie G-Buck goes buck effing wild on these two tracks, released as an EP on NestHQ 049. Wild and crazy with whirling synths and snappy snares, often chopping in screams and shrills and all kinds of wacky sounds that will have your body not just moving, but straight up contorting. A physical reaction to the madness that is yung G-Buck, you’ll whip out dance moves never attempted before, and they will feels so good, because the music is madness made to make you groove.
Blame it on ADD or the alcohol if you want, but this is really just about the music. For those of you whose attentions are in deficit, have had too much to drink, or just have been napping for the last year or so, G-Buck hails from the City of Brotherly Love where he has made quite a name for himself with his tastemaking abilities. So much of a name that he has caught the attention of names like Skrillex and Diplo and labels like Main Course and Mad Decent.
And now the OWSLA imprint NESTHQ has released this double-sided EP, with a track called Shakeline on the A-Side and Toma on the B. These two tracks pair well together and incorporate the collaboration of some names you’ve probably never heard of but definitely should know, like NOLA’s FlyBoi Keno and Four Color Zack.
NESTHQ really says it best when it comes to this EP:
“ShakeLine” acts as the vocal-driven A-side to the release featuring hype from NOLA’s FlyBoi Keno, who just made big waves recently with his inclusion on Jack Ü’s “Beats Knockin”. Just like in the Skrill & Diplo bruiser, FlyBoi Keno brings the party vibes in “ShakeLine” with his booming voice and tenacious style. Turntablist, Four Color Zack, scratches up the track for the full effect, and G-Buck’s siren-esque synth blasts and huge snare snaps make this tune a real monster. “Toma” follows up as the ferocious, bouncy B-side — speeding along at 160BPM with whizzing leads and syncopated kick drums. It’s a feat of controlled chaos; something G-Buck is gradually becoming known for.
“Toma,” hits you at a whopping 160 BPM ICYMI. So G-Buck’s sound may not run the traditional trap, but it sure does run the club, the after party, and the lobby. What’s after that, he runs that too. If you don’t know who runs this MF, now you know. The way things are going for this yung G, the world is next.
