Over the weekend, I was honored to be invited out to see Boombox Cartel. Being that this Mexican duo has blown up for their exuberant sound, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Not only was this the act’s first headlining tour, but this specific date in San Francisco arrived on Cinco De Mayo. Now, there’s a lack of knowledge regarding the holiday itself. It isn’t necessarily celebrated in Mexico, but it still carries a moment of history that promotes courage and resilience.
With that said, as I waited in line to enter the venue, the hype was real. The anticipation was setting heavy within the crowd and I knew this was going to be a special night. (Full disclosure, Boombox Cartel is made up of two members but due to issues regarding a visa, one of the members is unable to tour in the United States)
Yeah, he came out with a Mariachi. A full band to introduce the night that will never be forgotten. The visuals, the transitions, and most importantly, Americo’s stage presence really stood out to me. As I stood in the crowd for about 20 minutes I couldn’t help but become enraptured by the contagious energy and rowdiness carried throughout the audience. Oh yeah, the floor was shaking, no, it was almost like I was stepping on a trampoline. All I could think about was how well received the energy was and how high the ceiling is for Boombox Cartel. This young duo has so much potential and I cannot wait to continue watching their journey.
