Flume – Skin
Ahh, the illustrious Flume. Ever since dropping his ‘orchestral crunkwave’ remix of Disclosure’s “You and Me” two years ago, the Australian producer has been on an absolute win-streak, whether it be racking up millions upon millions of soundcloud plays or receiving critical acclaim from his debut LP Flume. Now, the 24-year-old musician is back once again, gearing up to release his sophomore effort entitled Skin. With an unbelievable 4-minute album preview available to the world, it’s safe to say Flumey’s still got it and this will be yet another beautiful album. With the release date TBD, stay hyped by bumping the LP’s preview below.
Kanye West – Swish
It’s officially Yeezy season. With Swish dropping next month and new music from Ye himself every Friday, Kanye West is back and better than ever. Already from the cuts “Facts” and “No Real Friends,” it’s clear that West has once again diverged from his previous styles, ready to add another game-changing project to his already overwhelming and impressive musical resumé. Do yourselves a favor and mark your calendars for February 11th.
Major Lazer – Music is the Weapon
What a year for Major Lazer. With their smash hit “Lean On” recently hitting an astonishing 1 billion views on youtube, the EDM supergroup reached unimaginable heights in 2015. Moving forward into the new year, the trio seems to have even larger plans, most notably another full-length album entitled Music is the Weapon. Revealed by Walshy Fire in a 2015 interview, news about the LP is still unclear – join us in hoping the project sees the light of day sooner rather than later.
Drake – Views From the 6
There’s no denying that Drake was arguably one of the most influential artists of 2015. From the “Hotline Bling” video to Drizzy’s relentless bars on “Back to Back,” the Toronto wordsmith’s cultural impact across the world last year was nothing short of phenomenal. With such a year in the books, we know the 6 God isn’t slowing down anytime soon… queue Views From the 6. While the LP has no official release date yet, hip-hop heads and Drizzy fan girls everywhere have been clamoring over this drop for what seems like decades now. What are you waiting for Aubrey!?
Jack Ü – TBA
Diplo and Skrillex changed the EDM scene forever thanks to the wild success of their collaborative Jack Ü project in 2015. From a double-platinum selling Bieber collab to debut release Diplo and Skrillex Present Jack Ü, the two iconic producers took dance music to new and glorious heights around the world. While no official news or release date is in sight, it goes without saying that more Jack Ü material will be abundant in 2016. We love you, Wesley and Sonny!
Justice – TBA
Ever since Busy P confirmed that a third Justice LP was in fact on the way, dance music fans everywhere have been obsessed over the idea of obtaining another full-length project from the renowned French duo. Thankfully, Gaspard and Xavier’s wildly infectious songwriting and expert production will be back with a vengeance in 2016; it’s just a matter of when. Already playing massive shows again, the pioneering duo is set to have a huge year.
Gorillaz – TBA
Similar to Justice, English virtual band Gorillaz are preparing to make their highly-anticipated comeback in 2016. While details surrounding any sort of release schedule are unknown, several indicators have shown us that something special has been brewing in the Gorillaz camp for quite some time now. As the group’s last full-length project was released nearly five years ago, let’s hope the band has something ready to show the world sometime soon.
Baauer – TBA
For the most part Baauer had a relatively quiet 2015, biding his time for (what seems to be) a debut album release in 2016. From the producer’s ß EP last year to this year’s “GoGo” single, it’s clear that the New York producer is slowly crafting a unique and memorable style, ready at any point to take over the game in the upcoming year. We’re ready for you, B!
Run The Jewels – RTJ3
Run the Jewels is steadily making a name for themselves as one of the most influential rap-producer duos of the decade. With producer El-P vowing to “retreat to the woods” and work on two albums, the future is clearly bright for both RTJ fans and the group themselves. Here’s to more conscious and hard-hitting rap records from the duo in 2016! Long live Run the Jewels.
A$AP Ferg – Always Strive and Prosper
The Trap Lord himself A$AP Ferg is set to drop his sophomore LP, Always Strive and Prosper, sometime this year. After the success of the Harlem rapper’s debut record Trap Lord, to say the very least we’re excited about what Ferg has to offer this second time around. We’re still waiting to hear that What So Not collaboration as well! Throw us a bone, Fergie!
