Last week, we reported on potential discord brewing between Diplo and Skrillex, and therefore, their collaborative project Jack Ü. There are a lot of work in processes they’ve teased out, most notably their collaboration with Florence & The Machine, leaving fans hungry for more music and more shows.
In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio to promote Major Lazer’s new single “Run Up” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj, Diplo sat down to talk about the record, how it came together, and Major Lazer, being portrayed in an upcoming VICELAND series, and, yes, Jack Ü.
Diplo touched on his focus for this year, the future of Jack Ü, and if we’ll be getting any new music from him & Skrillex anytime soon:
“I think right now I’m just trying to make Major Lazer. Last year I kind of did everything and I wore myself really thin trying to do all those projects but this year it’s all about getting the Major Lazer stuff out. We have a lot of records we wrote together me and Skillex but I don’t think its time to put those out now. Just trying to concentrate on this Major Lazer material.”
So, it seems like we won’t be getting that collaboration with Florence & The Machine anytime soon 🙁 Listen to Diplo’s full interview with Zane Lowe below to hear more about Major Lazer, Jack Ü, and Diplo being portrayed in an upcoming VICELAND series.
