Following a five year hiatus, Brooklyn based rocktronica duo Ratatat, consisting of Mike stroud and Evan Mast, took 2015 by storm. The duo kicked off the year with appearances at Coachella and Governer’s Ball, among other festivals, and the release of a new single “Cream On Chrome,” inevitably leading to the accouncement and release of their fifth album Magnifuque.
With their music careers back in full swing, Ratatat is already looking ahead to what the future of their music holds. One thing they know for sure is their fascination with the hip-hop scene will continue.
In the past, the two have worked with the likes of Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Missy Eliiot, and more and even released a hip-hop mixtape in 2007, but their focus has now turned to the next generation of artists coming up. Two in particular they wish to work with are Travis Scott and Young Thug, the two revealed in an interview with Bandwagon:
“We would definitely like to work with Travis $cott and Young Thug,” says Stroud, who caught the latter on TV before the interview. “I think they look different than rappers usually do. They look more punk rock than rappers ever have.”
Just the thought of those potential collaborations have me feeling giddy, let’s hope Travis Scott and Thugger see this 🙂 Peep some of RATATAT’s past hip-hop collaborations below.
