N.W.A. – FTP (KAYZO HARDER MIX)

Kayzo has never not gone in on his creations hard AF, in his words his music goes harder. Heavy, raw, all-encompassing sounds unmatched by anything that came before them. In a fearless and bold move, he chose to remix N.W.A.’s famed controversial single, “F*ck the Police.” Kayzo’s harder mix of “FTP” was originally released exclusively on ThisSongIsSick, and although some parts go characteristically Kayzo harder, this track to some extent shows the artist’s softer side. Working with a classic of this caliber takes caution and patience. Kayzo’s meticulous artistry on this one is a bit more delicate and subtle than in his other works, the means necessary in crafting this remix. A convergence of past and present that ripples the time space continuum and represents the timelessness of music. An intro of electronic instrumentals entrance you as their sound surrounds you, and you can’t help but lose yourself in the music, forgetting about the remix entirely until you hear Ice Cube spitting familiar lyrics. Kayzo’s work here is flawless. The original exists almost in its original form, barely manipulated except in transition and accentuation, so that it is preserved in all of its old school glory, even when given this new school kick.

“F*ck the Police,” is as relevant and relatable today as the day it was released. “FTP” is more than just another remix. It is a timeless piece of art, revitalizing and reiterating a message worth repeating. Too deep? Well, this remix also happens to bump in true Kayzo fashion.
