For years, Insomniac has brought their Electric Daisy Carnival all around the world. Since 2014, EDC has called Mexico City one of its homes and is a hub for incredible dance music year after year. If you have ever experienced an EDC, you know there is not much like it – for the two or three days the festival takes place, you are in a whole different world, part of a story authored by insomniac.
But going to EDC in Mexico is a much different experience than anywhere in America. The culture of Mexico absolutely seeps into every corner of the festival. Street vendor culture is everywhere, and while you walk from stage to stage you will be presented with a handful of food options – everything from tacos, to elotes to maruchan ramen cups. But we all know the festival is much more than the culture around it – a great music festival requires a great lineup. Check out some of our favorite artists playing at EDC Mexico – February 23 and 24th of 2019. Hope to see some of you out there!
This Mexico City performer has carved a nice niche for herself in the bass music world – so it’s no surprise that Flux Pavilion signed her to his Circus Records imprint. It’s not her first EDC Mexico, and within ten minutes of being at her set you’ll know why she’s on the verge of a breakout.
Claude VonStroke loves a good party – and if you have ever been to EDC Mexico – you know it’s one hell of a party. The leader of the Dirtybird Records team thrives in this environment – whether it’s being a pirate at Holy Ship, or closing out Movement Music Festival, Claude can quickly become a master of any domain.
RL Grime has had a hell of a 2019 so far. He announced his new music label, and released a huge collaboration with Graves. If there is anyone looking to celebrate, It’s the new head of Sable Valley, RL Grime himself. What can you expect from an RL Grime set if you haven’t seen one? A lot of his Nova album, some incredible hip-hop mashups, and an all-around great track selection. He balances the line between ‘EDM bangers’ and ‘Trap Heat’ better than anyone.
JSTJR
I attended EDC Mexico Last year, and had the lucky opportunity to walk by JSTJR’s set – and stuck around for the rest of it. What I had the chance to watch was a masterful combination of moombahton, dance hall, house music and everything in between. And he’s only grown since then with the release of his new EP, EDC Mexico 2019 might be even wilder.
Whethan’s had a hell of a year, he released his new Life of a Wallflower EP and had a great tour to go with it. He’s kicking off the first couple of months with his EDC Mexico debut. For an artist as young as he is, he has a very mature track selection and he does his research before every set. With news of him hitting the studio with Alison Wonderland, RL Grime, and NGHTMRE maybe we will hear some of these collabs?
To say Kaskade has been around would be an understatement. He’s played all over the world -multiple times over, been voted world’s best DJ a couple of times, and is an all around great dude. His huge catalog of music makes every set of his a treat to be savored. He combines his classics with some new tunes to create some mashups that you won’t hear anyone else. He will absolutely control EDC Mexico.
Skrillex
To say that I am excited for Skrillex to return to touring would be an understatement. He seems to be finally coming back to stages after a long hiatus – and Mexico is one of those stages. Skrillex has always been good at choosing tracks depending on where he’s playing, and I can’t wait to hear what kind of tribute to Mexico he plays with his set.
