Big news out of Ireland as their Cabinet has agreed on legislation that bans the reselling of tickets for more than face value. Ticket scalping is a major problem. ODESZA even included a scalper sweep for their Red Rocks shows and re-released tickets for fans who expressed their dissatisfaction after both nights sold out instantly and tickets popped up for triple the original selling price.
The legislation will “ban the above-face-value resale of tickets for sporting and entertainment events in designated venues with a capacity of 1,000 or over”. “Time and time again, fans are being told that all tickets are sold out on the primary sales website, while almost immediately being able to buy those same tickets at much higher prices on other websites,” a spokesperson for the Minister of business said.
All I can say is that I hope legislation like this comes soon to the U.S.
