Months ago, we were surprised by the news of Pendulum releasing an album full of reworks. The project would offer a hefty lineup of remix suitors. One name that stood out was Skrillex. Now, of course, the musical icon needs no introduction, so when his name popped up onto the lineup everyone freaked out. In the middle of a subtle and confusing silent treatment, we can all finally enjoy new music from the pioneer himself.
Remixing “The Island” by Pendulum is no laughing matter, the original track serves as one of the most anthemic records in Electronic Music history. Since its release, many remixes have come and gone, so the expectations for this remix are incredibly high. Leave it up to Skrillex to completely knock it out of the park with this refreshing Future Bass rework. His rendition offers a complete facelift that’ll leave nothing but a bubbly impression. That prominent melody we all fell in love with Pendulum for reigns supreme as it’s given the reggae treatment. Complemented by Rob Swire‘s vocals, you are hit with an assortment of saw waves that only Sonny could perfect. I know most would have expected Dubstep or some sort of Bass Music flip, but this melodic take on “The Island” can do no wrong.
