In just a couple of days, thousands will descend to Rothbury, Michigan in excitemt for Electric Forest – which many affectionately call ‘home.’ With four days of jam-packed music, it’s hard to pinpoint just a few essential acts you need to see throughout the weekend so we tried to help you! Here is a few acts that we love over at Run The Trap and if you look hard enough, you will definitely find us vibing at each of these sets. Happy forest, everyone!
Electric Forest
So you got to the festival and set up all your stuff and you’ve driven a few hours today. It’s Thursday and you’re ready to dance, right? It’s time to christen Electric Forest 2016 right, so shotgun that beer and head over to the Ranch Arena at 4:45 to kick off your festival with a set that is sure to pop off. Party Favor has had a very busy calendar year. I guarantee you have heard his hit single, ‘Bap U.’ Oh and if you’re not ready at 4:45, he’s playing a second set at The Forest Stage at 9:30.
Dubstep isn’t dead, and 12th Planet is here to make sure everyone knows. I’ve never seen a 12th planet set that could be described as anything other than fantastically chaotic. He is always sitting on a handful of headbanging tunes that you won’t hear anywhere else, along with the ones you already love stomping around to.
One of the leaders in today’s glitchy, weird experimental bass music scene – there’s no telling what Electric Forest’s already weird environment will bring out of Eprom. Things can only get wackier right?
If you are an avid festival goer this Summer, odds are you’ll get a chance to catch this act at least once. The two linked up after their relevance in America started fizzling, and it could not have worked better. The dubstep flame rekindled itself after just a couple performances together and people can’t get enough. Their combined musical prowess and collection of tunes makes each set something to truly take in.
After seeing Prince Fox on his tour with SteLouse it is impossible for me not to add Prince Fox to this list. He opened with a track from Jay Z and Linkin Park’s mashup album, Collision Course, and graced the rest of the night with a slew of future bass beats, trap heaters and everything in between. It’ll be the perfect set to kick off your Saturday.
Mija -> Mija b2b Anna Lunoe -> Anna Lunoe
I counted this as one set. Sue me. These two girls bring an energy that is unmatched, and when they performed together at Buku Music & Arts Festival, they had a huge warehouse of people clutching onto every last note. I promise you will dance, and smile even more after listening to their collection of tunes.
dThis young duo has been churning out future bass tunes for a while now – they finally struck gold with “It’s Strange” and have not slowed down since. I’m sure you recognize this name because they are on almost every lineup this summer, and after you see their set you will understand why.
What better way to end a magical four days than with a home-state set by the G-man himself. If you have never seen a Griz set, then be ready for the funkiest dance party you will ever be a part of. His sets as of late have been jam packed with unreleased tunes – hopefully from his upcoming album. It will be the perfect way to get your last burst of energy out before real life sneaks back up on you on Monday.
Have fun everyone, and be safe! Hope to bump into some of you in the forest! Check out the full schedule below!
