Lollapalooza is widely regarded as one of the nation’s “Big 3” festivals with Bonnaroo and Coachella.
What began as a traveling music festival in 1991 has come to call Grant Park in Chicago its (we hope) permanent home since 2004 and is always on the forefreont of bringing the world’s hottest acts to its stages. Last year boasted a huge lineup with acts such as Paul McCartney, Metallica, and Bassnectar…just to name a few.
So how do you celebrate one of the biggest and best music festivals in the world turning 25? BY ADDING A WHOLE OTHER DAY TO THE PARTY. Lollapalooza announced that for its 25th anniversary, Lollapalooza will run Thursday – Sunday as opposed to the usual Friday – Sunday. Lollapalooza 2016 will be invading Grant Park July 28, 29, 30 and 31st for what is sure to be an incredible four days of music in Chicago. There’s no telling yet if this is only a special occasion, or if all our future Lollapaloozas will take over four days of our lives…only time will tell I guess
“It’s our 25th Anniversary and we wanted to do something really special and different for our fans. There’s a lot of really great music coming out in 2016; with the abundance of talent that wanted to help us celebrate 25 years we got to thinking…‘How are we going to fit all those great artists in one weekend?’ Then we thought about what a special day Thursday has become. When the party can’t wait for the weekend, the movers and shakers make it happen on Thursday! So, we’ve put together an entire additional day of music to celebrate our milestone year. It’s going to be a fantastic party!” – Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza Founder
