8 years ago the hit song “Cheerleader” sounded quite different; slowed with a more laid-back feel than the poppy tropical house beat we hear on the radio today. The song that has spent weeks at Billboard’s #1 spot at first got OMI dropped from the independent label he tried to release it through. The original track went unplayed for 6 years until OMI’s girlfriend showed it to a local DJ, who put the song in front of 20 year old German producer we know quite well in the electronic world, Felix Jaehn. Infusing his quintessential tropical vibes, Jaehn and ULTRA Records breathed new life into an otherwise dead-in-its-tracks island-inspired tune. Tack on the work of ATL’s Silent Sound Studio’s GRAMMY-award winning Sound Engineer Miles Walker, and a hit record was born. Watch the video of this great story behind a song that has swept the nation and hear the song in its original form below.
The Story Behind The Hit Song “Cheerleader”I don’t usually share these kinds of things, but the story behind the hit song “Cheerleader” is amazing 🙂
