PC Music Volume 1

Hate it or love it, PC Music has been the talk of the music world for the last year with their uniquely hyperbolous yet minimal style of pop music. The group has just released their first official compilation entitled PC Music Volume 1 and most of the squad is slated to perform this Friday at the BRIC Media House in Brooklyn for the Red Bull Music Academy festival:

Founded by A. G. Cook, the label is home to a close-knit collective of performers and electronic musicians including Hannah Diamond, GFOTY and Danny L Harle, as well as associate projects such as XL Recordings’ artist QT. All these artists share a fascination with the immediately gratifying aspects of commercial chart music, delivering passionate pop jams which appear on PC Music Volume 1 such as fan favorites “Every Night” by Hannah Diamond, “Beautiful” by A. G. Cook and “In My Dreams” by Danny L Harle.

This Friday, May 8th, PC Music and SOPHIE will present Pop Cube, an immersive and sold out event taking place at BRIC Media House in Brooklyn as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York. The night promises the launch of a brand new mass media network as well as performances from QT, Hannah Diamond, GFOTY, SOPHIE, A. G. Cook, Danny L Harle and more. If you haven’t given the PC Music discography a listen lately, treat yourself and listen to all 10 tracks back to back in your downtime– some music is meant to be consumed in the club but this particular compilation really feels better suited for solo listening… if you give it a chance to transport you a few hundred years into the future, listening can start to feel like a psychedelic experience. After the mixed response (and technical difficulties) of the PC Music Boiler Room appearance in LA, it will be interesting to see how they are received now nearly a year later in Brooklyn… if you can make it, you definitely should.
