Its baffling how Slow Roast Records founder Craze even found the time to hit the studio in between shows but today the Miami local just released a dope 5-track EP that’s already got us thinking about the hot summer parties to come.
Entitled Baby Gurl EP, the release definitely invokes tropical elements even going so far as to bust out a little sexy moombahton on Imma G. While his collaboration with TroyBoi has gotten a lot of attention, I’m personally really feeling what he got going on Special Request. The track (and much of the EP) is driven by some classic reggae grooves that Craze does a brilliant job of updating and bringing it into the context of electronic dance music. Its easy for a lot of producers to get stuck into following whatever the “formula for success” is for them so its refreshing to see a tastemakers like Craze still experimenting with their sound while many others have resigned themselves to one niche or another.
Give the EP a stream and if you want to support Craze, cop the record on iTunes and make sure to catch the Slow Roast gang next time they’re in your ‘hood!
