My Sunday night usually consists of freaking out about Game of Thrones, drinking some ZzzQuil (it’s non habit forming, shut up), and hitting the hay pretty early. This Sunday, however, I was forced to stay awake with a surprise LP from hip hop crew Death Grips and none other than Bjork.
The album is just as insane as you would imagine, given the combination of two of the most bizarre artists on the face of the planet. Each track on niggas on the moon is an acid trip of its own: changes in tempo and mood, samples of Bjork yelling in the background, and loops of visceral fear and freakishness. In other words, this album is fucking awesome.
I can understand anyone who thinks this or any Death Grips album is total garbage. I’m not saying I’m anyone special or think I’m holier than thou. I think that if you can take the time to listen to the album in its entirety, you’ll find that this is actually one of the greatest DG albums yet — if you can get over the eccentricity of it and listen objectively.
The best part is, niggas on the moon is only Part I of the double album entitled, the powers that b. The next album will be called jenny death and I personally cannot wait to listen to it.
