Kennedy Jones sat down with Curtis J ‘The Prince’ of Ozcat Radio last time he was in the bay area and gave an exceptionally candid interview before his set at Temple Nightclub for the bay area’s longest running semi-weekly trap event, Trap City. Curtis and Kennedy discuss a wide range of topics including favorite ‘youngster’ producers ( like Alex Young, Sampul and Sammie Beats), collaborations, misconceptions about appearance and even how to get in personal contact with Kennedy Jones himself. The interview is a fun, light-hearted listen and really exposes Mr. Jones as a very approachable, down-to-earth musician who doesn’t mind “living out of [his] car if [he’s] touring and doing music.”
Kennedy Jones, who’s been operating under Boregore‘s “Buygore” label (but with the support of much of the rest of the Los Angeles Bass community) has been prolific within the underground EDM trap scene for the last year and despite having only one official release (the track Came To Party on Jeffree’s/Mad Decent), its almost guaranteed that you’ve heard somebody playing this man’s work. His portfolio is varied and best of all, most of it is available for free download via his Facebook and Soundcloud. Check out this guest mix he did for the Diplo and Friends show on BBC Radio 1:
And here are a few of my personal favorite Kennedy Jones tracks:
(We’re still waiting to get our hands on that VIP mix!)
