Today we’re bringing back a little bit of the wonky future bass vibe with an all new producer to keep on the radar: Curl Up. The NYC native has been putting out uptempo club releases for over 2 years but this new EP is somewhat of a departure from his usual sound. Focusing more on more gentle percussion and colorful wonky synths, Curl Up uses delicate instrumentation to envelop the listener in an irresistibly funky soundscape not unlike some early Hudson Mohawke releases (with a little bit of a Cashmire Cat vibe). If Curl Up can keep the inspiration going, I believe 2014 could the year he really blows up.
The EP is available on UK-based Terrorhythm Recordings (Plastician’s label) on December 9th, but you can stream it in its entirety right here in the meantime. It’s friday! Let’s get weird.
