As I’m sure most of you already know, the new ODESZA album “In Return” dropped this month. Along with it came an astonishing number of reinterpretations of what seems to be the most successful track on the LP, “Say My Name”, featuring British vocalist Zyra. There is an official remix package which accounts for a fair few of them, but there was also a remix competition which brought forth dozens of attempts to shed new light on the track. The remixes all differ in style, with something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Out of the many we’ve heard, here are the 7 remixes we think you should be listening to.
Jai Wolf

Off of the official remix package, Jai Wolf takes the vocal element of the track and highlights it in this flip. Having taken a risk by straying from his usual sound and giving this song a bit of a tropical touch, the up and coming producer proves that he can do it all. The risk paid off completely, and the result is beautiful.
Ganz

Amsterdam based producer Ganz has taken a much more dramatic approach with his contribution to the compilation. Staying true to his usual production style, the synth heavy drop and clean, crisp percussion amplify this song and take it to the next level.
Hermitude

Yet another contribution to the official remix package and also one of my personal favorites, this punchy and dynamic remix by Australian Hermitude taps into a chill trap infused sound that leaves you clicking repeat over and over. Nothing short of amazing, this flip does the original more than justice.
RAC

RAC was able to apply a completely different and fresh approach to the song, in a way that I think only RAC could. The guitar that kicks in after the intro is absolutely beautiful and, with the added subtle synth, compliments the vocals excellently. The word I think of when I hear this remix is “colorful”, and it stands impressively amongst the rest of them in the official compilation.
StéLouse

We loved this one so much that we already premiered it. It’s too great to not be a part of this list! It’s cool to see StéLouse start to shape a very unique sound, and this remix is a shining representation of that sound. This entry for the remix contest is a full fledged future bass banger, and if you like it too you can vote for it here!
Hayden James
Soundcloud | Facebook | Twitter
Being the only one to morph the song into a deep house track, Australian producer Hayden James definitely caught my eye with his remix. Seeing as he’s touring with ODESZA now, it makes sense that he would be featured on the remix package. The addition of some bongo drums is what really makes the track pop, turning the track into the ultimate dance floor tune.
Slow Magic
Soundcloud | Facebook | Twitter
Easily another favorite of ours out of the bunch, this beautiful interpretation of the track strays far from both the original and the rest of the remixes we’ve heard. Although it’s not an entry for the remix contest, it should be! Featuring an awesome guitar solo courtesy of Slow Magic‘s dad and some really nice piano melodies, this flip is absolutely ethereal. This remix is a surprising merge of two completely different styles of music in a way that truly compliment one another.

Blu J
We just heard this one this morning and decided that it was simply too good to not be added to the list. Expertly chopped vocals make for the introduction to a slow but vibrant and dynamic remix. It seems like this track is bringing out all sorts of creative in producers everywhere! It’s another entry for the remix competition- if you like it as much as we do you can vote for it here.
If you haven’t already, ODESZA’s full length album is available for purchase on iTunes here!
