A Miami judge has just dropped a lawsuit against Ultra Music Festival by Rapture Music Festival. After quite a frenzy, UMF has a new home this year on Virginia Key Beach. The move came at a hectic cost and also meant kicking out the previous event resident on the island.
For two years, the Rapture brought house and techno artists to Historic Beach on the same weekend that Ultra brought all kinds of electronic acts to the city. The direct competition has managed to attract similar crowds yet never crossed in each other’s paths until now. After Ultra secured their new venue, Rapture stood their ground, though it wouldn’t work out entirely in their favor. The judge threw the lawsuit out, citing that Rapture and Ultra applied for the use of Virginia Key, and while Ultra’s application was accepted, Rapture’s application was simply denied.
