10 Acts You Can’t Miss At BUKU 2018

The BUKU Music and Arts Project is quickly becoming one of the most highly regarded music festivals in the states. It’s nestled in the south of the country in beautiful New Orleans. Year after year it brings a hugely eclectic lineup that keeps people dancing even after they leave the festival and head to Bourbon st. 2018 is no different. We can’t wait to be back. Hope to see some of you out there!

Virtual Self

Friday – Float Den 11:15pm -12:40am

We can’t stress this enough. This will be the first time Porter Robinson will be playing as his new side project Virtual Self at a US festival, and you need to witness it. Porter had been touring the Worlds set for almost three years, and it’s incredibly inspiring to see the incredibly talented artist take his sound in a totally new direction.

Alison Wonderland

Friday – Float Den 9:00pm – 10:15pm

Alison Wonderland has been dominating the trap game for many years now. She’s also been advocating for mental health awareness in the music industry, something that is often overlooked. That being said, she consistently throws down as hard as she can and is one of the most consistently fun performers on the festival circuit.

DROELOE

Friday – VIP Back Alley – 9:00pm – 10:00pm

Hailing from the Netherlands, DROELOE are one of the most prominent signees of San Holo‘s bitbird label, and have been putting out phenomenal music for some time now. I’ve been able to see them a handful of times and will say that hearing their music on a festival sound system takes their sound from great to absolutely out of this world.

Hippie Sabotage

Saturday – Float Den 5:00pm – 6:15pm

Hippie Sabotage is a Canadian brother duo that blends a chilled indie sound with a modern hip-hop flow over some serious beats and insanely catchy hooks. I’ve personally never been able to catch them live and will 100% be there to watch them!

Soulection: Sango B2B The Whooligan B2B Esta

Friday – Wharf 8:30pm – 10:00pm

This is a huge one for the Soulection. They’ve seen a monumental rise in popularity recently, partly because of their Beats 1 radio show hosted by Joe Kay, and also because they’ve been curating and putting out some of the best music currently out. This three way B2B is not something that happens at every festival and is an absolute must see.

 

Illenium (Awake Live)

Saturday – Power Plant 6:00pm – 7:15pm

This past Fall/Winter Illenium embarked on his biggest tour yet in celebration of his second album, Awake. BUKU Music & Arts Project is getting the first ever Awake Live performance at a music festival…right at sunset no less.  Listen to Awake the way it is supposed to be experienced at BUKU Music & Arts Project. What makes an “Awake Live” performance? Illenium answered that question on Reddit.

Medasin

Saturday – VIP Back Alley – 9:00pm – 10:00pm

If there’s one reason to get VIP at BUKU besides the incredible amenities it’s the performances only for VIP ticket holders. Medasin is at the top of his game right now, while on the road for his Irene tour. His masterful sound design gives him the ability to craft music for music lovers of all shapes & sizes. Can’t wait to see what the man brinks to BUKU.

Jai Wolf

Saturday – Float Den 7:00pm – 8:00pm

It’s wild to me that Jai Wolf is still touring like a mad man. Even before his Kindred Spirits EP dropped in November of 2016, it feels like he was always on lineups – for good reason. I have never been at a Jai Wolf set that I didn’t leave smiling. His music will make you feel and dance all at the same time. Last time Jai Wolf performed at BUKU was in 2016 at the small Back Alley stage – what a treat to see him on one of the bigger stages this year.

Emo Nite LA

Saturday – Wharf 7:00pm -8:30pm

 Emo Nite don’t call themselves DJ’s – they are just here to have a good time and help you do the same. If you are like me and sang your little heart out to emo rock music in this 90’s and 2000’s then you cannot miss this set. You’ll sing along to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and if you’re lucky maybe some Hellogoodbye. Just come ready to sing.

Spag Heddy

Friday – Float Den 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Spag Heddy isn’t for the faint of heart. If you’re up for one of the most creative dubstep sets then make sure Spag Heddy is on your schedule. He’s dong stuff that no other dubstep producer is doing right now and is absolutely killing it at the top of his game. Head bangers get ready.
