There are few artists I respect more than the legendary Rusko. The man is the single strongest influence in my career as an electronic musician both because of the extraordinary music he makes and because once upon a time, we were both avid Sony Acid users. Throughout the ‘dubstep craze’ of recent years, Rusko always maintained his characteristic wonky style of dubstep, ignoring the trends. I like to believe his success has been a product of his ability to stay uncompromisingly unique.
That’s why this track is surprising. While there is certainly evidence that this is a Rusko track (starting at 1:04) it showcases far less of the ‘Rusko sound’ than any of his other tracks in recent memory… so while this track would be massively impressive from nearly anyone else, it’s a bit disappointing to hear a Rusko track without some wubs to make me feel weird in the best of ways (stoners know what I mean, man). I’m still really looking forward to this EP but I hope my hero hasn’t compromised his sound in order to stay “relevant” according to some dumb-**** kid / old man A&R who still calls it ‘electronica.’ ! (thats the title of the EP) is due out on Universal July 29.

Doesn't groove. That's why I initially fell in love with Rusko's music, just the pure FEEL behind it. Something I haven't heard from him in quite a while.
