Boombox Cartel – Dancing with Fire (ft. Stalking Gia) | Free Download
The secret language of the trap and its extended dance music community is a code not easily cracked by those on the outside of this little world we have carved out for ourselves, and we prefer it that way. We intended it when we started flipping around vowels and removing them from our words, the ones we have rearranged and assigned new meaning to, or even made up altogether, just so that we could keep this coveted world we so dearly cherish. We have watched the bubble burst and the music go up in flames, and now we just embrace the fire and watch it burn, because certain flames burn eternally and the highest art is retardant; it withstands the heat and watches all the fake plastic bullshit melt away.
All of the nonsense liquifies, evaporates, disappears, and dies leaving only ghosts behind; emerging from this world emblazoned are those artists whose integrity and talent has withstood these treacherous conditions. In the faces of mediocrity, the mainstream, and the masses, yellow and red appendages of this blaze breathe and expand in the open air around them, trying too hard to grab hold of and burn the heights of creation and creativity to the ground.
They don’t want us to do revolutionary shit.
It has become obvious throughout history that they don’t want us to go against their norms. They want to tell us who to be, how to live, what to do; they want us to stay inside these tiny compartments they built for us. They want us to follow their rules and speak their language. And this is where we become us and they become them. They speak to us and only us, in a universal way that allows us to carry on in their world without raising suspicion. We speak in code, learn their rules and the right way to break them.
We play with fire and we do not get burned. Walk through that shit unscathed, dancing in its warm glow. They see us dancing, but cannot hear the music; as Neitsche once said they think us to be insane. We are all mad here, and if this is madness let us never be sane. They cannot hear our music, nor can they understand our language. We understand each other, and we all speak this universal language that connects us and gives us strength. It is music and laughter and dancing, in ways that make sense only to us.
That is what this new Boombox Cartel track represents to me. A them that thinks us insane because they cannot hear the music or understand our language. They can have all their generic noise, ashes and rubble burnt to a crisp and dead and meaningless. Holding on to our ruins, what is leftover from the passing fads of mediocrity, they think they are still in control. But we are on some other shit. They stay waiting for a drop that came and went and in hindsight wasn’t too climactic. We have found music not dependent on formula, not regurgitated or repetitive, and nothing like anything you’ve ever heard. Boombox literally wows with every sound they make, and their mixes and live sets are off the chain. They are unchained, unhinged, literally stopping people to beg age an age old question like, Damn son, where did you find this?
The song sometimes remains the same, but original music from Boombox Cartel is always changing things up. From the title alone, this track is dangerous and badass. The trap fundamentals remain the same, but they are mixed with alternative pop vocals from Stalking Gia, and these female vocals strike a chord reserved for the feeling you get when you hear Boombox Cartels music. It is excitement, the sound of something huge, something growing larger, something just about to blow. There is something so intangible and indescribable about the musics magnitude.
Boombox Cartel has been easily defined as a Mexican duo that makes trap music. And while poignantly accurate, it says nothing about the infectious energy that fills the air when their sound waves move through the air, and honestly there aren’t words to describe how the music of Boombox Cartel makes you feel. It makes me feel sublimely happy, smiling and grooving to the music. It is wholly representative of the individuality and fun-loving attitudes, and seeing them live is an intimate experience, feeling the din and clamor of pounding beats and getting lost in a cloud of melodies and vibes. Smoke from the flames of this burning world, and we Dance with Fire so hot it scorches the earth, but we are unharmed swaying harmoniously in its arms, safe in its scorching, soothing touch. Our feet move to the beat as we kick up the ashes beneath our feet, engulfed in the light and color of the fire that is this track. We could do this dance forever.
Boombox Cartel are bringing all their positive energy and vibes to Australia and New Zealand in the month of March. International superstars to be, they will be infatuated, intoxicated, so into these guys, who I am sure will show nothing but the same amount of love admiration in return. If you are anywhere down under, you should find a way to any of these cities on their respective dates.
