Tragedy struck the Norwegian Pearl early Friday morning amid reports of a female passenger jumping overboard. Identified as Kaylyn Rose Summer, the 24 year-old was reportedly seen purposefully jumping from the 15-deck cruise ship amid the Mad Decent Boat Party festivities. Following the incident, Mad Decent released this statement:
“Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.”
Mad Decent Boat Party has officially been canceled and has set sail back to Miami, expected to arrive on Sunday as scheduled. Some acts booked to play on the beach in Cozumel are reportedly going to be performing on the return trip and after arrival in Miami.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during these unexpectedly dark times.
