Simon Cowell, who gained popularity in the United States for his absolute tearing apart of American Idol contestants seems to want to make a splash in the EDM world.
Simon Cowell will be teaming up with SFX and T-Mobile to bring ‘Ultimate DJ’ to televisions nationwide. Ultimate DJ will follow the ‘Got Talent’ format, and will mimic shows like America’s Got Talent, ‘The X Factor’ and even, American Idol. The show is slated to start online, where contestants will submit their original productions and fans will vote on social media. Following that will be live performances that will include SFX’s groundbreaking production value.
SFX is the biggest producer of live events, and has focused almost exclusively on electronic music events across the world such as Tomorrowland, Electric Zoo, and Stereosonic.
Their access to talent currently booming in the EDM industry combined with Simon Cowell’s production ideas should make for some interesting television.
” It made complete sense for us to collaborate with SFX with their access to the best up-and-coming DJs and their great marketing platform to build new DJ talent.” – Simon Cowell
Will this be a bust, or succeed in flying colors? Only time will tell. But we can only assume that the results aren’t going to be pretty.

i guess i'm confused with the live show part… is it going to be criteria based on turntablism / transitions or what? sounds difficult to judge from an 'American Idol' type show viewpoint
